stuffed panettone

If you want to turn a classic panettone into something irresistibly delicious, here's a super simple recipe that will wow both kids and adults.

Panettone dusted with powdered sugar sits on a festive plate with holly design. A red ribbon decorates the panettone wrapper.

Panettone is a traditional Italian Christmas cake, known for its light, fluffy texture and sweet flavor, usually filled with candied fruits and raisins. Originating from Milan, it's become a holiday favorite around the world.

I used the classic Panettone with candied fruits and raisins but you can choose your favorite type.

Ingredients

• 1 panettone

• 3 hyping cups of ricotta

• 1/3 cup of milk

• 20 amarena cherries with some of their syrup

• 2 tbsp of powdered sugar

• 1 tsp of vanilla paste

Method

  1. Prepare the Panettone:

    • Cut off the top of the panettone (this will be the "lid") and set it aside.

    • Hollow out the panettone, removing the inside

    and roughly chop it.

  2. Make the Filling:

In a bowl, combine ricotta, milk, sugar, vanilla

and amarena cherries. Gently mix everything.

  3. Assemble:

    • Brush the inside of the hollowed panettone with amarena syrup and then add the filling.

  4. Finish and Chill:

    • Once all layers are complete, replace the panettone "lid" on top. Refrigerate the stuffed panettone for a few

    hours before serving.
